URBAN ART - By Paul Forrest
  • Who is Paul?

I packed my bags and left the land of the Great White Cloud (That’s New Zealand by the way!) in 1994 to discover London, England and all the opportunities it held. I crash landed slightly short and spent a year or so in Kent before deciding to migrate to London just to return and finally lay my hat down in Bromley.

I live there with my lovely wife (Ania) who knocks me into shape when I drop paint and spill things in my front room / studio where my creative thoughts flow, with the encouragement of a beer or wine and some good music.

Having studied art as a boy at school I thought it was a field that I may pick up again later in life. In 2004 I decided now was as good a time as any to see if anything worth looking at could be dragged from me. I feel my Art is an expression or interpretation of an image that I find either beautiful or interesting, and hopefully others will to. I like to use space, textures and colour (although I am colour blind!) to create interest and to draw viewers into the painting so as they can find their own beauty within it. I paint because I enjoy it and I love to see the reaction of people when they see a painting that moves them.

As a part time artist, I have been commissioned to paint a number of paintings and although I would never say that I could paint a photo type painting I have created interesting images that my customers have been very pleased with.

I use the term “Urban Art”. I feel my art will have an appeal to business people looking for different style paintings for their home or office. Only recently one of my paintings was featured in a photo on ITV – Online where an asset management company have it as the main feature in their boardroom.

I aim to continually update my site with new work and welcome suggestions on what you would like to see. If you have an interesting idea or image you would like to share with me for inspiration that would be great…. believe me, sometimes the inspiration bank runs a bit dry!!

I hope you enjoy the site and let your colleagues and friends know about it. Please call me or email me over any query or to just find out more. Be good and enjoy the Art !

Cheers
Paul
